The field of cardiology has always seemed very interesting to me because it is a very objective and pragmatic medicine. During the medical career, in the medical practices, I was with the illustrious cardiologist Dr. D. Vicente Tormo at the General Hospital of Valencia. Later, I specialized in cardio-vascular surgery with Dr. Caffarena, at the Hospital La Fe in Valencia. During my training period, I visited hospitals that performed special techniques, such as Harefield Hospital in London with Dr. Mc Yacoub, where I learned the technique of valve homografts.

Later, during my period as Clinical Chief at the Reina Sofía Hospital in Córdoba, I visited the Broussais Hospital in Paris, with Professor Carpantier, to perfect valve surgery. I was also in Cambridge with Dr. English to start the heart transplant at the Reina Sofía Hospital in Córdoba (we did the 1st transplant in 1986) .

During my stay as Chief of Service at the Valencia General Hospital, I perfected my technique in aortic aneurysm surgery, visiting the centers of: Baylor University, Houston (Dr. Caselli) and Mount Sinai, NY (Dr. R. Grippe). I was also at the Cleveland Clinic, perfecting coronary surgery.

During my period as Head of Hospital Service and Director of the Cardiovascular Area at Hospital La Fe in Valencia, I started the implant of the definitive mechanical heart. I am investigated at the La Fe Research Center and at the Príncipe Felipe Research Center in Valencia, where we are working on cell therapy, implanting stem cells in infarcted hearts
